CrE asks you to run the dryer's basic care program. Bosch does not count it as a fault.
Model compatibility: Bosch reuses codes across series and model years, so CrE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
CrE is Bosch's reminder to run the dryer's basic appliance care program and does not signal an error.
It would be easy to read CrE on a Bosch dryer as bad news, yet Bosch classes it as a maintenance reminder and not as a fault. The dryer wants its basic appliance care program run. Nothing in the message points to a failed part.
Clearing it
Bosch does not print the care-program procedure on its code list. The page points owners toward the manual written for their particular dryer. So the work is:
Note the model number, then open its manual under Owner Manuals on Bosch’s owner-support site.
Read the section on the basic appliance care program.
Start the program as that manual describes.
Why else a dryer beeps
Bosch counts five causes of beeping, and a maintenance alert (clean the lint filter or run a care program) is just one. The other four are quick to rule out:
the drying cycle is over
the display shows an error code
child lock is switched on
the door is not closed properly
When the display reads E plus a number
Something like E12 or E56 is a separate matter. Bosch has a distinct entry, with distinct checks, for each of them. Search for that entry instead of running the care program and hoping.
More Bosch dryer messages
E01: clogged lint filter, the other routine cleaning message.
E12: overheating from restricted airflow, an actual fault.
DR: the door is not closed, another cause of beeping.
Dryer service in Los Angeles
CrE alone seldom needs a technician. If the dryer shows another fault that will not clear, call (310) 879-1577 and give the code with the model number. Our dryer repair page lists what we work on.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
