E012 reports a defective temperature sensor on the control panel board, not the cavity sensor.
Model compatibility: Bosch reuses codes across series and model years, so E012 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
E012 on a Bosch wall oven is a defective temperature sensor on the user interface PCB.
Which sensor E012 means
Bosch’s service manual, in its list for 2007 built-in wall ovens of the 300, 500 and 800 lines, defines E012 as a defective temperature sensor on the user interface PCB. The sensor in question is not the probe in the oven cavity that governs baking. It is a small part fitted to the circuit board of the control panel itself.
Why a panel measures its own temperature
The panel electronics are mounted right above a cavity that can get extremely hot.
A sensor on the board tracks how warm those electronics are.
Bosch handles overheating separately under E003, which applies when the panel passes 185°F (85°C).
With E012 the thing at fault is the sensor.
No cause or test is given for this entry in the manual, and an owner has nothing to adjust. Where the board sits depends on the series: under the glass touchscreen of an 800 Series oven, or under the dials and keys of a 500 or 300 Series.
Next steps
Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds and then on again. It does no harm, and Bosch resets ovens the same way during its own procedures. If E012 returns, remember that the sensor forms part of the interface board, which Bosch treats, chassis included, as one unit. A technician does the job from the front of the oven and finishes by resetting and testing it.
