Overheating electronics stopped cooking on the range top. One Bosch page says one zone, another says all zones.
Model compatibility: Bosch reuses codes across series and model years, so F4 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
F4 means the electronics overheated and the corresponding cooking zone was switched off; Bosch's electric cooktop list says all zones.
Overheating is behind F4 on the range top. In the induction section of Bosch’s slide-in range page it has no line of its own and appears alongside F2 and E7015, with the explanation that the electronics overheated and the corresponding cooking zone was switched off.
Two Bosch wordings
Elsewhere, on the electric cooktop list, F4 is its own entry. The wording there is that all cooking zones are switched off. If your range loses several zones at once, that matches the cooktop version. Both pages prescribe the same remedy.
Remedy
Let the electronics cool.
Tap any control element on the range.
When F4 has left the display and the range is cool enough, choose your zones afresh.
Bosch lists no breaker reset, and the oven plays no role in this message.
While waiting
Cookware from the zones is still hot; a trivet is the place for it.
Do not wipe hot glass with a wet cloth.
Do not tap the controls over and over before the electronics have cooled.
Signs of something bigger
Bosch does not cover an F4 that shows on a range top nobody has cooked on, or one that remains after a long wait. If either happens, stop using the range top and have it checked.
